GRADE 3/4 HOLIDAY HOMEWORK
Here are some ideas for students to work on over the school holidays.
- Write yourself a goal for something that you would like to get better at in Term 2.
- Read for at least 30 minutes from a text of your choice each day. Use taught classroom strategies to help you solve unknown words.
- Practise your touch typing skills (www.typingclub.com/)
- Write a true story about a memory.
- Collect drawings and/or photographs to add to your Writer’s Notebook.
- Practise any unknown Oxford Words from the Oxford 500 wordlist provided to you by your classroom teacher.
- Grade 3 Signpost Pages: 7, 16, 17, 18, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 30, 31, 32, 33, 40 and 41
- Grade 4 Signpost Pages: 28, 29, 35, 38, 39, 40, 41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 53, 60, 88 and 89
- Practise reading time on an analogue and digital clock. Make sure you use the correct terminology (e.g. half past 12/ a quarter to 11).
- Add birthdays and other important dates to a 2020 calendar.
- Practise your Math Skip Counting goal.
- Play family board games, depending on what you have at home, e.g.: Monopoly, Connect 4, Guess Who, Jenga, Card games and jigsaw puzzles.

Pivot Animator is a freeware application that allows users to create stick-figure and sprite animations, and save them in the animated GIF format for use on web pages and the AVI format. Pivot provides a simple, easy to use interface with a few features.

Grade 3/4 Scienceworks Overnight Stay
This year’s Year 3/4 teachers have organised an overnight stay to Scienceworks in Spotswood, departing from Albion North Primary School on Thursday the 20th of August at 6:00pm and arriving back to school on Friday the 21st of August at approx. 2.30pm.
Students will need to have their evening meal and bath/shower beforehand and be back at school by 6pm. Students will depart Albion North Primary School at 6:15pm sharp.
On arrival students will participate in an exclusive exhibition viewing, watch a Planetarium show and have supper. The following day students will have breakfast, attend an additional Scienceworks program (Earth, Moon and Sun) and stopover for lunch at Club Italia.
The cost for the overnight stay is $115.00 which covers; bus cost, accommodation, a Planetarium show, Scienceworks programs, supper, breakfast, snacks and a special stopover for lunch (pizza and soft drink) at Club Italia the following day.
If your child requires any special dietary requirements and/or has a medical condition that the school is unaware of please see your child’s classroom teacher.
Students are not to bring snacks from home to share (due to allergy reasons) and no electrical devices.
All 50 spots have been filled and we have students on a waiting list. Full payment will need to be made by July 1st. Failure to pay the required deposit may lead your child in losing their spot.
